Perhaps you've dreamed of taking off from the slopes of Europe's biggest volcano, in which case, make the dream come true! Try an introduction to paragliding on a tandem flight with a qualified instructor, or sign up for a personally tailored course.
If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, we have two golf courses nearby (try both over one weekend): Golf de Haute-Auvergne (18 holes) at Sansac de Marmiesse in the heart of the Monts du Cantal, and Golf de Vézac, also an 18 hole course, with a practice range, putting green, golfing school and private lessons.
And if you prefer to take the plunge, the lake of Saint-Etienne-Cantalès to the north of Marcolès offers water sports (windsurfing, sailing, canoes, stand-up paddling...), swimming (lake and pool) and beaches fully equipped for relaxing. To the south, the Vieillevie water-sports centre on the Lot, on the border between Aveyron and Cantal, offers year-round fun for all the family. On offer: canoes and kayaks, stand-up paddling, rafting...
In winter the Lioran ski area at the heart of the Cantal massif offers extensive snow-sports from mid-December to mid-April: 44 runs and 18 lifts: 1 cable-car, 8 chairlifts, 6 button-lifts, 2 "magic carpets" and 1 baby lift. Lioran is also about enjoying the snow without skis: dog-sledding, snow-mobiles, luge-runs, the Plomb du Cantal cable-car, ice-rink, snow-shoeing, ice-climbing…
Auvergne is the land of wide open spaces and volcanic landscapes par excellence. From the banks of the Allier river to the Cantal summits, from the wooded landscapes of the Haute-Loire to the dramatic contours of Puy-de-Dôme, the contrasts are striking.
Medieval Marcolès has achieved "Petite Cité de Caractère" status: the characteristic village is at the heart of Cantal's Châtaigneraie region and lively all year round.
Superb landscapes, AOP rated cheeses, the biggest volcano in Europe..., a must-see destination!
